The Young Adult Department was organized in the late sixties to bridge the gap between the Junior and Senior Departments.  The Department consists of Young Adult Ushers between the ages of 21-35 from member churches of the Association.  The first President was Miriam Cherry of Cornerstone Baptist Church.  Nathaniel Jones served as President 2018-2023, and the current President is Argusta Stevens. Both are members of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

Vickie Daniels served as Counsel for the Department for many years, until the Counselor position was replaced with Advisors from the Presidential Staff and  the Board of Directors. Vice President Kenneth Robinson and Director Lillie Grant were appointed to serve as the first Advisors beginning in 2022 and are currently serving in that position.  Young Adults have served at the State, Region, and National levels.  They have also represented New York  State in the King and Queen Contest, as well as the National Drill Competition; and they have received winning plaques and medallions.

Four members of the Department have served as President of the National Young Adult Department:  Alberta Jones of Bethany Baptist Church was the 1st National Young Adult President (1967-1973) and is the current National Young Adult President Emeritus; Timothy Douglas of First Baptist Church of crown Heights was the 15th National Young Adult President (1998-2000). The Junior and Young People Department was organized in 1938 by the 7th Presidnt, Henry Ballard. The objective was to encourage youth ushers between the ages of 8-21 from member churches to become part of the Association.  The first President was Thurman Walls, Cornerstone Baptist Church.  Since 1938, there have been many Junior & Young People Presidents and officers from various member churches.  The current President is Brice Bryan of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

The Juniors have served in our State, Eastern Region, and National Association.  There have been four National Presidents:  Betty S. Sinai Baptist Church (1998-2001); Jordan Paige, Berean Baptist Church (2021-2022). J. Ricky Heirs of Bethany Baptist Church, and Shawna N. Green of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church served as Board Chairmen.  In the late 1960’s, the Junior & Young People Ushers Chorus was formed and rendered musical selections throughout the community at various Programs.

The first President was Denise Watts, and Warren Ivy was the Musician.  The Chorus is currently inactive.  The Junior and Young People Department has grown from a few Member Churches in 1938, to more than 40 Churches today.  Jamal Edwards-Frayer of Bethany Baptist Church currently serves as Junior Supervisor and Kimberly Jones serves as the Assistant Supervisor.
